Fundamental Differences : Haynes & Mead on the 2nd Amendment

Matt Mead has a history of fighting against the principles of the constitution while Taylor Haynes seeks to apply them.

The Bill of Rights : Amendment II
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Matt Mead fought the state of Wyoming as a US attorney working for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms resulting in growth of federal government control over the rights of states and the rights of individuals to 'bear Arms.'  From, Mead plagued by anti-gun past : Mead said : “I was just doing my job” and “You should see my gun collection."

Call it what you want, calling it your job doesn't make it right.

Talyor Haynes : "... the second amendment of the United States is your conceal carry permit and you don't need to jump through any hoops to carry a weapon anyway you want." video

-- Mead flounders around the issue with trying to blanket his anti-gun past with his love of hunting and his personal gun collection.
-- Haynes refers to principle and the United States Constitution.

These are fundamental differences.

From their web-sites ...
-- I will promote and sign legislation to allow every citizen in good standing (non-felon) to carry the fire arm of their choosing in any manner they choose.
-- I will direct the Attorney General to restore reciprocity with the States where it has been lost.

Matt Mead - Protection of Gun Rights
-- I will be the strongest advocate for protection of Second Amendment rights. I love to hunt and fish. I’m proud owner for many years of a Wyoming lifetime small game, bird and fishing license. I strongly support gun rights, hunting, multiple-use on public lands, and efforts to limit federal control of guns.*
-- I will oppose federal efforts to infringe upon our Second Amendment rights. My collection of guns includes AR 15 models, .50 caliber, .22s, and many others. I do not want you or me to lose our right to own and use these guns ... and much more
-- Don’t let California bloggers or folks with hidden agendas muddy the waters because I was a prosecutor. I have always felt one of the best protections of gun rights is to enforce the ones on the books rather than adding new laws.----------------

*support the efforts" ...  What does that mean?  Will Mead be an active player in protecting gun rights or will he just sit in the stands in support for it from a politically correct distance?

Mead Deceptive with "Rumor Control" :
"Mead has been deceptive while attempting to combat his anti-gun record as a U.S Attorney. In a recent email from the Mead campaign there was as stated a "little ditty" called “Killing the Rumor Mill” in which it states ... I have a bridge to sell you."
-- FACT- there is documented proof that Mead has fought on the side of the BATF and against gun owners of Wyoming, PERIOD.
-- As a US attorney working for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, and under oath to defend the constitution, Mead fought against the state of Wyoming to allow Federal Law to overrule states rights and to institute life-time ban on certain individuals to own guns...
-- Wyoming Legislature wanted to maintain a statue "that allowed domestic violence abusers to regain their right to possess firearms by expunging misdemeanor abuse convictions, but only for purposes of getting a firearm" ... which, under federal law, is "rare" but perfectly legal...  "In rare cases where criminals are pardoned or have convictions expunged, they may regain the right to own guns."

-- Matt Mead: A clone of John McCain..? : "McCain says he is a supporter of the second amendment and proudly wears his endorsement by the NRA, even though he clearly joined gun grabber and Brady poster boy Mayor Bloomberg"
... Mead, on his website, lauds himself with his "A" rating from the National Rifle Association and then introduces the issue with:

"As Governor, I will be the strongest advocate for protection of Second Amendment rights.  I love to hunt and fish.  I’m proud owner for many years of a Wyoming lifetime small game, bird and fishing license.  I strongly support gun rights, hunting, multiple-use on public lands, and efforts to limit federal control of guns."

*So Mead used to work for the ATF in working to grow federal control of guns, and now he says he supports the efforts to limit federal control of guns.

-- Brady Center Hails Court Ruling Blocking Domestic Abusers From Getting Guns - for LIFE

-- What 'convictions' constitute a life-time ban?  Examples from around the nation ... 6/98 Lautenberg Gun Ban Racking up the Horror Stories  : "Kathi Herren, 32, swatted her child in discipline. The result? She has now lost her Second Amendment rights ... punished for the rest of her life."

--Wyoming Gun Rights Organization : Matt Mead - Rejected for Governor of WY
-- Cheyenne Examiner : Matt Mead - plagued by anti-gun past
-- Mead, U.S. Attorney, fought on the side of the ATF in “Wyoming VS. BATF
-- Mead was on the side of the “Gun Grabbers” and as the U.S. Attorney

"Governors that believe in Big Government believe in "more control and less individual rights"

-- Matt Mead for Governor, wolf in sheep's clothing
But when the feds pushed to unveil a Federal Dept. of Justice facility in Cheyenne, Matt Mead said this: "The opening of this building is a special occasion...This building will allow a coalition comprised of state, local and federal law enforcement …"
This federal building was sold to the people of Wyoming as a DEA facility, but the truth is, “The agencies to be co-located in the building include the “Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms”

Any discussion about the second amendment which leads to a person declaring his support for such which wanders to hunting and tourism has not the faintest clue what the second amendment really is all about. Mead has no stand on the issue, he doesn't seem to understand it or he does and is scared to say what his real beliefs are so his hides behind that hunting and tourism BS. John Kerry had a hunting license, doesn't mean he ever hunts . Just because Mead declares he hunts and fishes does nothing to make me feel good about his stand on the second amendment. I'd love to see Mead show up at a shoot one day at one of the local ranges and have him show us how he shoots. Not a staged event, I want to see him show up and shoot.
